Welcome to Thurman’s Bass A Specialty
Guide Service. My goal is to provide you
with a fun filled and exciting fishing
experience, one that you will always
remember. I am fortunate enough to live
on one of the best lakes in the country,
and have the opportunity to share with
others the knowledge and techniques
that I have picked up through fishing for
pleasure, tournaments and my guide
service.

Fishing Bio – Chris Gilroy

I grew up with a passion for fishing.  Growing up in San Antonio, TX we
primarily fished on the Gulf Coast because that is what my family liked to
do.  However, if there was a place to fish, I fished…whether it was local
ponds, Lake Barkley in KY which is where went every Summer to visit our
Grandparents or our other Grandfather’s stock pond on his farm in Silsbee,

TX; it didn’t matter – I wanted to fish.  Curiously enough I only recently

got into true bass fishing when I met my now wife’s (Stephanie) family and
specifically her brother Chad.  He has fished bass tournaments for years
and got me involved.  I went from having a couple of Ugly Stick rods with
Ambassador 6500 reels more set up for coast fishing to now owning 17 rod
and reel combos all designed for specific bass fishing applications.  It
all started when he and I fished a Dallas Safari Club/Bass Champs Charity
tournament on Lake Lewisville in the Fall of 2005.  We got 7th place out of
75 teams and had never fished the lake before.  I was instantly hooked.  I
now bass fish just about every time I can, including fishing Bass Champ’s
North Division for my 2nd season.  I have also fished Big Bass events such
as Berkley and Dodge Mega Bass.  Being very new to the sport, I am trying
to learn everything I can and have been blessed to come to know guys like
Ron Peterson, Dannie Golden, and Clint Wright on a personal level.  Between
these 3, my brother in law and a few others I have learned more than my
share in just a few years and will continue to grow as an angler and a
person in their company.  My future plans are to continue to fish Bass
Champs while fishing other small tournaments as well while fine tuning my
skills as a tournament and recreational angler.  Having a home in Frisco
and second home on Lake Cypress Springs, I am afforded the great
opportunity to fish Cypress, Bob Sandlin, Monticello, Fork and Ray Roberts
on a very regular basis.
